February 2004 Archives

For those of us who are unnatached on the upcoming commercial holiday:

From our friends at despair.com

Blah, rant time. Sad that the only time I update is to rant.

So the broadband co. came to install today-- and then procede to say they can't because of snow and ice on the house. Hello? Did you somehow MISS all the snow and ice last week when you came to see if we could even get service? I guess so. Man there is seriously a communication problem at this company. Their prices seem good and they claim to have standards for Quality of Service (once you get installed, I assume), but man-- should they not ask you, when you make the appointment, whether your roof or whatever is clear? I mean I have no idea exactly how they are supposed to attach this thing to the house, but surely they should check a few things or verify some informtion first, no? Otherwise why make appointments if you KNOW you're not going to be able to do anything.

Agh. Maybe when spring rolls around THEN I'll have broadband. I guess that saves me some money...

Oh well. With any luck i will still scrap my site this weekend.

First off I need to shout out to Mel HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you're enjoying FOTR:EE :D

Well it's been almost a week and I'm bored at work so I thought I'd post- be warned that it'll be a bunch of rambling gibberish-- not worth your time to read. Is there a point to this post? Not really. I need to get back into taking pictures of everything inane to post.

My kingdom for a PC at work or even just a better Mac with OS X and a faster processor. G5's are lookin' nice...

So broadband is finally coming to Sloanieville... not DSL, not Cable-- but high speed wireless. I'm crossing my fingers that said gain in bandwidth will inspire me to be more creative with my web site and do more multimedia. Afterall, I have the webserver space and I'm just not using much of it. Should have it installed tomorrow, woo! It should be feasable now to listen to Internet radio and download movie trailers and such at home, not to mention that Strong Bad will no longer take forever to load. Oh, the possibilities. Joy :)

EDIT: Grrr... the broadband co. just called to say they wanted to reschedule because they've been having safety issues with all the snow that's been falling. Must be patient...
